WOOW Trunk Show // 12.06.16 // by: Alyssa Treccioli
WOOW (Pronounced /’wu:/)
Every so often I come across a collection of eyewear that just kind of speaks to me. Well, when you think about it and actually look at the frames from this line they sort of do…Let me explain.
WOOW was thought up by two superstars of the eyewear industry Nadine Roth and Pascal Jaulent (you may know of a “little” collection called FACEảFACE, yeah that was them too…major swoon). In 2012 they launched this 75 piece collection of chic, unique, and quite frankly cheerful frames.
I’m aware that you all may think that I’m crazy by now. Thus far I’ve stated that this collection not only “speaks” to me, but now it’s also cheerful?! Put the straitjacket down and hear me out! Each frame speaks to its wearer by way of a two word message at the end of each temple. Why do you ask? TO CHEER YOU UP. Sayings such as, “Marry Me, Get Lucky, and Don’t Worry” to name a few.
Stop it right now! Can this get any more adorable? Yes, yes it can. The messages are written on vintage inspired typewriter keys placed into each temple tip (insert heart eyes Emoji). I know it may seem like an insignificant detail to some, but I feel like we all have so much that goes on in our daily lives that this, is just one of those “little things” that can make you stop for a minute and smile. WOOW puts is perfectly, stating that “the frame will make the wearer smile first thing in the morning…better than a coach”.
I have to say since I wear one myself, I agree. They make me smile each time I put them on. When I receive compliments about how they look I love to take them off and show off the message. In addition to the temple tip detail the collection as a whole is just beautiful. Exceptional, thoughtful craftsmanship, vibrant frame colors and combinations, and don’t get me started on the frame shapes otherwise this post will never end!
Be sure not to miss our WOOW Eyewear Trunk Show, on January 9th from 12-6. Call the office and ask for me (Alyssa) soI can make you an appointment. Walk-ins are always welcomed, however if you have ever been to any of our trunk shows, you know how busy they get! Stop by and take a peek at one of our newest and most beloved eyewear collections!
I cannot tell you all how many times I have tried to tackle the problem of storing my eyewear. Side note: if you don’t already know this about me…I have A LOT of eyewear (one of the job perks). Now that my secret is out I feel much better, so let’s get back to business.
Having so many beautiful pairs of eyeglasses and sunglasses but nowhere to store and/or display them has always been an issue for me. As much as it pains me to admit, my eyewear drawer looked like something out of TLC’s Hoarders. At one point I was considering getting a sign that read, “Open at your own risk”. It seemed like no matter how many times I would empty and organize it, the drawer was just a mess and extremely bothersome to sort through. By the time I found the pair of frames I was looking for my prescription had changed (haha). I have scoured every store, optical magazine, and Pinterest board for a solution that was not only functional but pleasing to the eye.
Enter the OYOBox! It was like someone heard my cries and wanted satisfy my eyewear storage and organization problems, and OYOBox well exceeded my expectations. The OYOBox has been featured in numerous magazine articles, blogs and get ready…Oprah’s list of favorite things. My discovery of this product made me want to get my “Oprah on” and proclaim to my patients “YOU GET AN OYOBOX, and YOU GET AN OYOBOX!”…
The Original OYOBox will fit up to 6 pairs of your favorite eyewear whereas the newly released mini will fit up to 4. Each OYObox is hand crafted and features stainless steel ball hinges and a shatterproof top window. Down the center of the box is a specially engineered partition to perfectly house your eyewear, and is lined with the softest leather. The OYOBoxes are available in not only wood finishes but also an extensive selection of vibrant colors. Did I mention that they apply SEVEN layers of lacquer finish? No, well they do…and it is meticulous. The look and feel of these OYOboxes is nothing short of luxurious. Every time I think they cannot get any better, they blow my mind with a new release. This time it was a metallic gold full size box (pictured) …Where is the emoji with the heart eyes when you need it! One of the best things about this company is that it continues to expand; offering more exquisite finishes, different size boxes, and accompanying (and equally as beautiful) jewelry boxes.
At a very reasonable price point of $165-$350, they make the perfect gift for the eyewear lover in your life, even if that’s yourself. I have many patients display them not only in their bedroom, but in the common areas of their home. Why would you not want to display something that not only contains beautiful objects, but itself is exceptional? It is time to show off and be proud of the eyewear that you have, not hide them in your bedside table, or in my case a drawer that needed a trained professional and a ton of emotional support to sort through.

We have officially made it. I’m not sure exactly what we have made it to, however it’s our FIRST blog post! Also, I hope that you are all LOVING our new website as much as we are! Thank you to our friends at 561MEDIA for designing something to fit our needs and showcase what we’re all about.
Dr. Abdal and I recently embarked on a trip to NYC for the International Vision Expo East. These trips are absolutely necessary to ensure that we continue to provide our patients with nothing but beautiful, handcrafted, independent eyewear. Not only do we purchase new product for the optical but it is extremely important to us to make sure we provide you all with the latest in eye health management and care.
While at Vision Expo Dr. Abdal and I were determined to find a new line of eyewear that would be stand out from all of the other spectacular products that we carry… Enter MATSUDA! WOW…I mean, WOW. We were first introduced to this beautiful collection during Vision Expo West 2015 in Las Vegas. It felt like love at first sight. Dr. Abdal and I struggled to just look and not pull the trigger at that time, however we had other priorities that took precedence. Finally 6 months later which felt to me like an eternity of longing for this line, we placed our FIRST order at Vision Expo East in New York. It was so hard to choose and remain within budget, all I wanted to do was throw up my hands and say “We’ll take one of each and don’t forget, two of those!”. But alas, that was not an option.
However, the selections we made are just stunning. This is not really a surprise given the overall beauty of the collection. MATSUDA is the epitome of fine Japanese craftsmanship. With over 45 years of history, they have been able to source only the finest materials and create timeless, luxurious eyewear…Side note: If you don’t trust me, listen to Iron Man. Tony stark wears MATSUDA style M3023 not only in Iron Man 3, but is often shown in his personal life sporting that very same style. See the picture and swoon, Robert Downey Jr. is looking good 😉 For me frame purchasing is one of my favorite aspects of my job. Not only because there is just so much out there to see, feel and love but learning the story behind each eyewear line, and what drives their aesthetic… I could listen for hours! Aside from MATSUDA we did take a peek at a few other gorgeous collections (however did not purchase….yet) so stay tuned!
After exploring all that the eyewear section of the expo had to offer Dr. Abdal and I moved on to pharmaceuticals. We’re excited to announce that we are now offering Omega-3 Vitamins for Dry Eye relief. According to research dry eye effects one in every eight adults, or 33 million Americans. Dr. Abdal is passionate about helping her patients to find relief from their dry eye symptoms. I’m so excited for an upcoming webinar regarding theses vitamins, once we get through that I’ll have a lot more info to pass along. It’s time to start thinking more outside the box on how to tackle this problem that so many suffer from. If you know us at all then you know we are always looking for something new and exciting but also products that we believe actually work. Remember to follow this blog, I’ll keep you all posted on our quest for dry eye relief!
Now that I have justified why we are able to take these trips and frolic around whatever destination we happen to be traveling to, let’s get to talking about just that…the frolicking! After being at the convention for a few days it was time to enjoy the beautiful weather that NYC had to offer that weekend. Dr. Abdal and I were ecstatic to just sit and relax in central park for a while. Sunny, clear skies and a plethora of good people watching provided the perfect backdrop for great conversation and quality 20/Twenty Eyecare family time. It was so serene, which is just what we needed after the hustle and bustle of Expo. Later that night was my favorite part of the trip. One of our trip goals was to see a Broadway show, and that is just what we did! Phantom of the Opera was our show of choice and it was just as good as the first time I saw it, which was about 16 years ago. The chandelier drop and masquerade scene will never get tired. Other trip activities included some shopping (of course) delicious dinners and good times with great people. Overall Dr. Abdal and I had an excellent time. It was wonderful to enjoy Manhattan, purchase and view exceptional eyewear and spend time industry friends that we are not able to connect with as often as we like. Each trip we take offers us the opportunity to experience something new that we can bring back home and share with our patients. Whether it be in relation to new products, important information, or just a ton of funny stories, I hope you all enjoy hearing about our adventures!
